What IS Quinoa?

You might be wondering what on earth quinoa is.

First of all, let’s talk about how you pronounce it.

Quinoa is actually pronounced ‘keen-waa’. I like to say the ‘waa’ as though I am saying ‘Mwah’ to someone.

Did you know that Quinoa is one of the world’s most popular health foods? This is because it is gluten-free, high in protein and one of the few plant foods that contain sufficient amounts of all nine essential amino acids.

On top of that, quinoa is also high in fiber, magnesium, B vitamins, iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin E and other beneficial antioxidants.

Therefore it is a great ‘superfood‘.

How to cook quinoa

Quinoa is actually really easy to cook!

Cook it as you would rice but wash well under cold water before you do.

As for me, I’m using my cooker for brown rice, and it works great with quinoa.
