Are you wondering about Marks and Spencer reduction times? If you love M&S food but not the full prices, knowing when they add those yellow stickers can save you an absolute fortune.

You’ve probably heard someone saying “you know you’ve made it when you can do your food shopping in Marks and Spencer.”

Well then, I must have made it — because I shop in there often… I just don’t pay the full amount!

Why choose M&S food?

Let’s be honest — the quality and variety in M&S is fantastic. Their ready meals, fresh produce, bakery and “Dine In” deals have a bit of a cult following for a reason. But the prices do reflect that quality, and whilst they compete well on basics, anything a bit fun or premium can cost more than other supermarkets.

That’s why their yellow sticker bargains are some of the best in the UK. And unlike some stores where reduced items can be a gamble, M&S food tends to last a little longer and freeze brilliantly.

Whilst shopping at Lidl can save you money day-to-day, Marks and Spencer is one of the best places to pick up premium food bargains during their reduction times.

How to find the Marks and Spencer reduction times

I always chat to the staff in the Food Hall — they’re usually fab. When I asked about their reduction schedule, a lovely lady (who shall remain anonymous!) told me M&S typically work in three waves of reductions.

First reductions: around 9am

The first wave of reductions is usually around 10% off. It’s not life-changing, but if you pick up a few bits, it all adds up. For example, mangos that were £3 might drop to £2.70 — and grabbing several items can shave a couple of pounds off your shop.

Second reductions in M&S usually start around 2pm, often knocking around 30% off.

Second reductions: around 2pm

This is a brilliant time to nip in, especially if you’re doing the school run. Items that were £10 might drop to around £7, making this wave perfect for meat, fruit, snacks and lunchbox bits.

I often grab reduced apples or bananas here — the kids are happy, and so am I.

Final reductions often begin after 5pm and can go as high as 70–90% off.

Final reductions: after 5pm

This is the time you’ll find the absolutely wild bargains. M&S often reduce items by 70–90% — which is why this last wave can get busy.

I’ve grabbed luxury sausages for 70p, whole chickens for £1.10 and fruit and veg for pennies. This is the perfect time to stock up the freezer.

One little reminder — please be respectful of staff using the reduction gun. Don’t crowd them or lean over them (yes, people really do!), and only take what you need so everyone gets a chance to grab a bargain.
