Things to consider when buying Costco gift cards

There are some things that you need to be aware of when buying gift cards.

The first one is that if the company lands in trouble and goes into administration, it usually isn’t possible to spend your gift cards.

The second is to watch out for expiry dates if there are any. If you don’t spend your gift card balance in time then you will forfeit the balance.

How to use the gift cards

Despite the name gift card, you don’t actually have to use them to give as gifts – you can use them for yourself, your family or your friends to save money on spending.

I split them with my friend – she uses her Tesco Clubcard Rewards to pay for our Pizza Express dates, and I use my gift cards from Costco to pay for our Nando’s dates.

You can, of course, gift them too! A lot of the gift cards come in smaller denominations e.g. Nando’s comes as 5 x £20 gift cards, so they can easily be gifted for birthdays and other occasions.
