We have tested out Aldi Christmas desserts just for you!
Christmas is fast approaching and my grub planning is well in operation. Now is a fantastic time to have a look at the Supermarket Christmas brochures and pick out some fancy treats that will grace your tables over the holidays. With the previous under dogs of the Supermarket world now at an even setting with the original big boys of the Trolley world, we are all fortunately spoilt for choice, and if you are looking to spend some big bucks this Christmas, you will not be wanting to fork out on tat !
Anyone who has been a follower of this blog, will know that I am a big advocate of the budget supermarket as the products are excellent quality and the only thing that is often missing is the inflated price, so when I got my hands on the Christmas pudding press release from Aldi, I was almost licking the pages. This season the winter berries and glitter is rocking, and running with it’s tail between it’s legs are the safe beige desserts ! So many delicious Aldi Christmas desserts to choose from.
Aldi gave me several desserts to try and share my thoughts of taste, price and overall appearance. However, I have enlisted the help of several rugby Mums, and after a couple of glasses of bubbly, there are no holds barred !
First up on the hot seat was the Topped Brownie bites, which had the thumbs up all around, Easy to remove from the pack and even easier to eat, these are a crimbo must have for £1.99
The Mini Chocolate cups were up next, and these were a tad trickier to remove from the packaging, but they looked extremely posh in a Waitrose kinda way, but tasted delicious and only came in at £2.99
The mini tarts £2.99 were nice, however these would be fab as an afternoon treat with a nice brew after a days hard Christmas shopping.
The mini Christmas Puddings were flipping fab, perfect for a glitzy party as they looked so pretty. Gliterized to perfection with a fab gobfull of niceness, these are a MUST have for only £3.49.
Aldi really have pushed the boat out with the Mince pie selections and we tried the Chocolate Orange pies which were amazeballs. Other varieties include the Sloe gin tarts, All butter almond tarts and even the Gluten free option, which is a life saver for the Gluten free guest. Our only pudding that didn’t set our tongues waging was the Red fruit and Chocolate Layered dessert £5.49. It looked amazing and tasted good, but was not as good as the other delights.
Our two big show stoppers of the night were the large White chocolate & cranberry Cheesecake £4.99 which looked and tasted 50 shades of fab and the Toffee & Pecan Roulade £3.49. Hayley is a pro when it comes to the Roulade and normally picks one up for Christmas at the high end Supermarket with a high end price, However, this was the nicest one that she has ever tried and has put this Aldi dessert on her list, as it blew her away.
Many more options will be hitting the shelves in the run up to Christmas and I would highly recommend the Festive Tiffin £9.99, the only thing that I could describe this is to compare it with a soft and cold toblerone but times it by 100 on the wow factor.
