Every year it is the same; you realise that your friends birthday is just around the corner, but you have absolutely no idea what to get them. Even if you’d have remembered earlier, what would you have bought? To help you out here are a few simple gift ideas that any friend will love.
Gift them an experience, instead of something material
As we get older, we can sometimes get stuck in the same routines, so why not gift your friend an experience that will break them out of that routine for a few hours. You could buy them tickets for a show, a segway riding experience or take them for a game of crazy golf! You don’t even need to spend a lot of money. You could take them on a walk to the park for an ice cream. Getting the chance to let their hair down and forget about life for a bit will leave them with memories that they will treasure more than some trinket that they will soon forget about.
Spice up an everyday item
Gifts don’t need to be completely unique, so take something that they love to do every day and make it a bit different. If your friend loves to drink tea, instead of buying them their everyday tea bags, you could treat them to a loose leaf tea collection. If they love skincare, why not find them a moisturiser that they wouldn’t usually allow themselves to buy. By taking the time to think about the little things they love, it will mean the world.
Give them something handmade
If you have a crafty hobby, make use of it! Even if you don’t, there are plenty of things that you could easily and thoughtfully hand-make. It is always a pleasure to receive gifts that you know have taken a lot of love and effort to make. Maybe you could cross-stitch them a bookmark if they like reading or write them a poem. You could even fill up a small notebook with things that you love about them so they can read it when they are feeling down. Whatever you do, it doesn’t have to be expensive or take up a lot of your time, but your friend will receive a beautiful one of a kind gift.
Re-gift something that you don’t want
It may be frowned upon to re-gift something unwanted to your friends, but if you don’t want it and you know they will use it, where is the harm? You obviously wouldn’t gift them something like a well-used pan, but if you have things that are still in their packaging and have not been used it may be something to think about. Many people have monthly subscription services for various things such as make-up and wine, amongst other things, and often receive things that they don’t want. By re-gifting these items, you are ensuring that they are going to someone who will appreciate them and in turn you are saving yourself a bit of money.
Gift-giving shouldn’t be stressful, and it doesn’t have to be expensive. Hopefully, this has given you some ideas for gifts that will make your friends smile.
