For just £2.80, you too can enjoy this slow cooked beef curry with homemade chips.
This is a super simple homemade slow cooked Beef Curry which is a delicious meal that the whole family enjoyed. I bought the beef at Marks and Spencer reduction time, the spinach was only 10p per bag and the spices were on offer for 15p at B&M.
The beef curry was cooked in the slow cooker but it can be cooked slowly in the oven, although this Crock-Pot with Hinged Lid and Programmable Countdown Timer is a fab price and allows you to cook this during the day whilst you are at work or out for the day.
This is also probably the simplest recipe on the blog. Using a slow cooker means that you can start it off in the morning and just let it do its thing whilst you get on with your day.
The less you interfere with this recipe the more tender the meat will be. Another advantage of a Crock-Pot is that you can use cheaper cuts of meat, it cuts down on prep time and you can also use less meat, as slow cooking really extracts a meaty flavour that permeates the whole dish.
Bulk up with vegetables instead which is better for us and a great way to get the family filling up on vegetables.
Slow cooked Beef Curry
You will need……
Diced beef ( or lamb)
Spinach
Diced pepper
Tinned tomatoes
Diced onion
Spice mix.
Pop it all in the slow-cooker, turn it on for several hours until the beef is soft. I served the beef curry with a side salad and chips cooked in the Actifry, so it worked out to be a very healthy and low-fat slow-cooked beef curry. A big thumbs up from the family and my purse.

Great recipes. Looking forward to following your blog. Thank you. When is the m and s sale hour please?
Hi Wendy, thank you for your comment.
M&S have great reductions, and are usually done in 3 waves. The first being around 10, the second after 2pm and the 3rd and best are around 5pm.
Subscribe to the blog and i can send you any more reduction times or bargain alerts.
Do you cook on low, medium or high temp? how long do you usually cook it for? Thanks xx
Your recipes are fab!! I have 3 children so these are ideal.
Hi are the reduction times at M and S the same in each branch? My local is open till 8pm, and I haven’t seen any bargains when I’m in there at 5.30pm after work. Btw, love your blog and well done!!!
Hi Maggie, the best thing to do is find a friendly looking sales assistant and ask them, shops can vary on reduction times slightly but if in doubt ask xxxx
Just found your blogg today have added you to my favourites,
That is Fab Ciao, thank you xxxxx
Hi,
If you bought the beef beef on the day it was going off how did you have time to put it in the slow cooker? Did you get the beef in the morning or can you use the beef the next day even though it would be past its use by date? Sorry! I get nervous about dates and I’m not the best cook!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Hey Mazzie, thank you for contacting me. my best piece of advice is to use your nose and eyes, if it doesn’t smell right or look right, then don’t use it. Sell by date and use by date are different. Don,t let it scare you. I bought the beef for the morrocan beef the day before i cookeand it was fine. If you find that you are not going to use your meat within a day or two, freeze it. I hope this has helped you Mazzie xx
Thank you so much! Am very impressed with your quick reply! will definitely try this out!
Could i also suggest using cauliflower or broccoli rice. Im on a diet used your recipe but did a twist absolutely lovely. Never thought to use the whoops section before but as a mum of two on benefits its doing wonders especially making fresh meals for my 6 month old rather than the jars xx
Hi Katie,
I have never tried broccoli rice, will look into it. You can always pick up reduced broccoli or cauliflower, so its worth a try. Thank you so much for your comment, really pleased that your enjoying the recipes and saving money xxx
Do you add any other liquid apart from tinned tomatoes to the curry?was worried about it drying out.
Hi Joan, thank you for looking at Reducedgrub.com this curry was soooooo delicious and i only added tinned tomatoes and no extra juice as it stays pretty moist from having the lid on. I hope you enjoy it xxx
Hi lovely, do you know the reduction times for Waitrose?
